It is difficult to fathom in this day and age that a young and successful student athlete would deflect the accolades of his/her success in any direction beyond the pounding of their own chest.
Let’s face it - everyone wants their fifteen minutes of fame. Some have even made a small fortune in that period of time in the limelight. We live in an instant gratification society. We want to be recognized, cheered, patted on the back, glorified, and loved and we want it now!
With that said, every now and then, if we look hard enough a person of character emerges to impress us all. One who is in a position to impact many based on his/her status and abilities.
Quince Orchard is fortunate to have such an individual in junior football player and wrestler Terrence Stephens. As a two-way starter on the number one ranked and undefeated Quince Orchard Cougars football team, Stephens has been instrumental in the success the team has achieved this season.
In early October, Stephens was named “Student Athlete of the Week” in the Washington Metro area by the Washington Redskins for achievements on and off the field. The 3.7 GPA Honors student excels academically, and all you have to do is witness a glimpse of a Cougars football game to see the size of the holes Travis Hawkins, Thomas Addison and Genies Dawuan run through to see his impact on the football field.
